Clemmie Johnson Obituary

Miss Clemmie Mae Crayton Johnson was born November 30, 1947, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to the late Mr. RM Crayton, Sr. and the late Mrs. Lessie Mae Foster Crayton. She attended school in Dadeville, Alabama.

Clemmie was a kind loving person. She was a loving and devoted wife for 58 years to the late Mr. Curtis Johnson Sr. She was blessed to be called Mama by her seven children.  Clemmie enjoyed being called the neighborhood’s “Candy Lady”. Not only did the children enjoy her, but the adults did also. Although Clemmie was confined to her wheelchair, she still managed to cook a meal which she shared with everyone that stopped by to visit her. She enjoyed calling family and friends every day to check on them.

On November 29, 2023, God saw that Clemmie was tired and sent his angels to her earthly home in Alexander City to rescue her soul and bring her to her heavenly home to rest in peace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, RM and Lessie Mae Crayton; her husband, Curtis Johnson, Sr.; a daughter, Robbin Johnson Robinson; two sisters, Teresa Crayton and Mary Lee Crayton; two brothers, Robert Crayton and Tommy Young, Jr.; and two great grandsons, Anthony Rayshun Floyd and Jordan Johnson.

Clemmie’s memories will forever be cherished by her family: Two sons, Mr. Curtis Johnson, Jr. of Jacksons Gap, AL, and Mr. Jerry (Ollie) Johnson of Dadeville, AL; four daughters, Mrs. Shelia (Joe) Young, Ms. Betty Johnson, and Ms. Amy Johnson all of Alexander City, AL and  Mrs. Geraldine (Marty) Johnson Daniel of Jacksons Gap, AL; one sister, Ms. Shirley Ann (Jeffie) Heard of Jacksons Gap, AL; three brothers, Mr. R.M.
