Mrs. Jessie Mae Crenshaw was born September 14, 1936 to Mr. George and Callie Mae Bender in Lowndes County. Her parents George and Callie Mae preceded her in death.
Jessie Mae grew up in Lowndes County, Alabama. She accepted Christ at an early age where she joined Friendship Baptist Church. Later, she moved to New Hope Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Joe Brown.
Jessie Mae married James Crenshaw and she leaves her cherished memories to her three children: Carrie Mae Bender, Gwendolyn Hunter, Shirley Crenshaw all of Selma, Alabama and Amos Crenshaw who preceded her at death; siblings, Willie Lee Relph (and the late Wille Relph, of Selma, AL), Elizabeth Johnson of Selma, AL, Ollie Mae Bender and Johnny Bender of Selma, AL who both preceded her at death and the late Catherine (Nathaniel) Rudolph of Riviera Beach Florida.
She was the quintessential family woman. She loved spending time with her grandchildren: Eumkeea Bender, Corey (Christine) Washington, Andrew (Tiffany) Washington, Roderick (Angela) Crenshaw, Shantella Crenshaw, Jasmine Bender and the late Leo Crenshaw who preceded her at death; she has fifteen great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, sister in laws, a special aunt Sallie-Pearl Crenshaw and a special friend Sarah Young.
